So we haven’t heard anything from Porter Davis for a while now. The last contact we had was on July 18 when we received the soil test and surveying report – turns out our soil classification is “P”. If you don’t know what that means, here’s a table that explains it.
So that’s right, we have the worst soil classification possible. So I’m expecting a very high site cost.
We were also told that our facade wouldn’t work with vaulted ceilings so we had to make a choice – different facade or remove the vaulted ceilings. We decided the latter.
That said, we are considering forgoing our deposit with Porter Davis and we are thinking of becoming an owner builder. Have heard that it will save us quite a bit of money and it will also allow us to have a custom floor plan, facade and overall design. Anyway, nothing’s concrete yet, it’s just a thought…….. for now.
