My site supervisor gave me a call a couple of days ago to introduce himself. He sounds like a nice guy, he told me about the plans for the site and that we should hopefully have a slab down by the end of the month. I have indicated to him that I have engaged a building inspector (New home inspections) to inspect each stage including the bored piers to ensure they are up to standard. He said that isn’t a common request, but he was happy to call the building inspector to let them know when to come in to inspect once the holes have been dug out.

The SS also did warn that there would be long delays for the frame to arrive because of supply issues and that Australia usually import structural timber from Russia but because of the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, Australia has boycotted imports from Russia. Although this means that Australia will suffer as a result, it is the right stance that Australia should take to oppose the invasion. We’ll just have to find our timber from some place else.
I read in the Facebook forums that people have been waiting 6 months for the frame. Fingers crossed that we don’t have to wait that long.
