More work done upstairs

The blue wrapping looks like it’s completed upstairs now so the entire interior is not protected from the weather. All windows are in, except the main dining room window. There is a reason for that though. I was told that the steel beams were too close together (they’re 2.4m apart from top to bottom). The window size is 2.4m in total so therefore is too big to fit into the 2.4m space. They need to allow for expansion and for the bolts to go in. So they need to decrease the height of the window to 2.35m in order to make it fit.

Since the window and frames have already been delivered, they will need to be taken away and have 5cm shaved off it so it will fit. That’s going to cost them quite a bit and it will also cost us because the window is no longer as big as the one specified in the drawings. Honestly though, I have no idea how they could have gotten it wrong.

We also got word that the brickies who were supposed to start work on the house have gone AWOL and is not responding to phone calls. Don’t know if that’s a blessing or a curse. Maybe it’s a good thing that they didn’t come in because they would have done a crap job. It’s also a bad thing because it delays the build.

Notice the steel beams above the dining room window? They can’t shave 5cm off that, so they had to send the window away to take 5cm off the window instead.
The missing dining room window.
