Today the waffle slab was laid out and we had it inspected. There were a few things to be fixed, but nothing major.

Slab materials arrived
Nothing much to describe, just that the materials have arrived in preparation for the slab.
Site cleaned, ready for slab
Checked out the site today… it’s been flattened and cleaned and I can see the concrete piers level with the ground. There are pipes coming out of the ground, some with blue on top and others with yellow. I have no idea what that means. Here are a few photos. The site looks pretty nice …

Mud pile removed
The mud pile has been removed… now you can see where the garage is going to be. That said though, it’s been raining constantly so there are lots of puddles around. I walked onto the site and it is extremely slippery. Wonder how they’re going to do build the slab on mud. Hopefully we’ll see …

Site flattened
Don’t know what the process is called, but the site has been flattened. Can’t see the piers anymore but can at least see the outline of the house. I think the next step is the slab, which they say should be finished next week. Here are a few photos.
Piers complete
Visited the house again 2 days ago and again today. Piers are complete, got the report from the building inspector after their inspection of the piers. Said that there were 62 piers, all of which were up to 3m deep. Some were shallower than that, but they hit rock, so can’t go any deeper. Guess …

We were penalised $2000 for delays to the start date. Apparently we were supposed to start in March, but because it’s May, they have penalised us $1000 per month past the start date. I argued that the delay was caused by KC not replying promptly… according to my calculations, we were waiting over 4 months …
